This practice is part of the national initiative called the Primary Care Collaborative whose overall aim is to improve services to patients. One area of this project is about improving access both to your doctor and practice nurse. The aim is that you can be seen by the most appropriate professional at the time that you need to be seen. From 1st November 2002 doctors appointments will be available within 48 hours and often within 24 hours. |
The number of patients requesting appointments with the doctors or nurses at this surgery is very high. Frequently the doctors will see many patients who could have been dealt with more appropriately and speedily in another way. To improve our service to you, we are looking at different ways of dealing with patients. Here are some of the ways we can help each other. |
|
Surgery Consultations
If you require a consultation, whenever possible please make an appointment no more than 48 hours in advance of when you need it. This will help us to reduce the number of people who make an appointment and then do not attend.
Telephone Consultations
Do you really need to see the doctor or could you speak to him/her over the telephone regarding your problem?
We can offer you the option of discussing your problem with the doctor over the telephone as an alternative to visiting the surgery. If you would like a telephone consultation the reception staff will take your details & the doctor will ring you back at the end of morning surgery.
If following this telephone consultation the doctor still feels that he/she would like to see you, or you are unhappy in any way and would still like to see the doctor, an appointment will always be made for you.
Practice Nurses
Practice nurses are highly skilled health care professionals and are gradually taking on more and more work that was in the past done by the doctor.Next time you make an appointment consider whether you really need to see the doctor or whether an appointment with the practice nurse would be more appropriate.
Services provided by the practice nurses include:

Stitch Removal |
